The special prosecutor investigating the discovery of classified documents at former US President Donald Trump’s Florida residence has summoned former Vice President Mike Pence to testify.
According to ABCan investigation that also addresses Trump’s performance in the invasion of the Capitol obtained Pence’s testimony after several months of negotiation between the legal team with the United States Department of Justice.
The special counsel’s office is seeking information about Pence’s interactions with Trump on the day of the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, according to sources interviewed by the CNN.
In November last year, US Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special attorney to investigate Trump, who has already announced his intention to run again for president in 2024.
Garland further defined that investigations into the invasion of the Capitol will focus on the search for people “interfered with the transfer of power” and Biden’s ratification process as president in Congress after beating Trump in the 2020 election.
The Justice Department chief pointed out that investigations into classified documents found at Trump’s Florida home by the FBI will be analyzed for possible obstruction of justice. Garland appointed a special prosecutor to investigate this case.
