The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure updates the prices of protected housing to promote its construction and thus expand the supply of this type of home, which has a maximum regulated amount, and is aimed at families who find it difficult to access free housing. This measure is part of the ‘Action Plan against the impact of the war’ promoted by the regional Executive, to stimulate the construction sector in the current economic situation where there is a continuous escalation in the prices of raw materials.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, announced this Wednesday to the president of the Association of Real Estate Developers (Apirm), José Ramón Blázquez, and part of its board of directors that the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) which will publish this week the adjustment of the amounts that were frozen for 13 years, in order to adapt them to the current economic situation.
“With this price update we guarantee that protected housing promotions can continue to develop and assuming a guarantee of access to home ownership for hundreds of families”, explained the counselor, who recalled that “the regional government promoted a new model last year protected housing to adapt it to the current needs of families.
He explained that the increase in the number of beneficiaries of this type of housing so that more families can access their purchase, the adaptation of surfaces to meet current needs, and the reduction of procedures for their qualification are the main novelties of the regional regulations approved in 2021. “The regional government is going to articulate as many measures as are necessary to improve citizens’ access to the home they want, one of our political priorities, and that includes making it possible for businessmen to carry out the promotions of housing”, declared the counselor.
Price Update
The Community updates the prices of protected housing based on data from the cost index of the construction sector of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, as well as those of the housing price index of the National Institute of Statistics that established some increases of 13 and 14.37%, respectively.
Díez de Revenga stressed that with this measure “we respond to a demand from the housing sector, increasing the price of subsidized housing by 9.5% to adapt it to the increase in technical and quality requirements for the new homes that have been giving in the successive modifications of the technical building code». Thus, the price per built square meter of these homes goes from 758 per square meter of usable area, to 830 euros with the aim of helping to support the increases in the construction costs of these homes caused by the new quality requirements.
