A bill that intends to exempt the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) for motorcycles with up to 150 cubic capacity was approved by the Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) and now must be voted on in the coming days by the House’s plenary.
According to Senator Chico Rodrigues (DEM-RR), the project it caters to classes C, D and E, the largest purchaser of motorcycles in this price range, precisely because they meet the needs of motorcycle couriers and people who travel daily through cities with motorcycles. By the calculations presented in the project, the reduction in the final price of motorcycles should reach R$ 400.

“In Brazil, especially in the municipal scenario, we know that there is great difficulty in getting around in rural areas and with economic difficulties. In these regions, the motorcycle is a vehicle of fundamental importance for the movement of the population and for the movement of the economy”, said the project’s rapporteur, Mecias de Jesus (Republicanos-RR) in an interview with Agência Senado.
The IPVA has different rates in the Brazilian states and, with the proposal, the rate becomes unique, that is, 0%.
