Prisoners in colony No. 14 “Khotunok” in Novocherkassk set themselves on fire. Incident footage publishes Telegram channel Don Mash.
The incident occurred on the evening of November 1. Two convicts climbed onto the roof of the building, after a while their clothes burst into flames. The victims survived, they were taken to doctors with burns.
Later, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service for the Rostov region told Lente.ru that the convicts set fire to their trousers and extinguished them on their own. As a result, both received minor superficial burns. Medical assistance was provided on the spot, they do not need hospitalization. Both are prophylactically registered as prone to self-harm.
They explained their act by their unwillingness to obey the legal requirements of the administration of the institution and move to another detachment.
On October 5, the first video with the rape of prisoners in the hospital of the Saratov Federal Penitentiary Service appeared on the network, then others appeared. According to human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin, 40 gigabytes of video of the torture of prisoners were filmed by FSIN officers on official video recorders. After that, criminal cases were initiated, the situation was taken over by the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Duma and the Federation Council.
