Ubisoft announced with a very short teaser the release period of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Timewhich in the meantime has also changed its name, losing the “Remake” wording that the project originally had: the game will arrive in 2026.
As rumored, development on The Sands of Time was canceled after the bad reception reserved for the first reveal, work has started again from scratch but it is not yet known exactly who is taking care of this ambitious remake.
All we know about the game lies in the teaser sequences, which show a candle “going back in time”, going from being blown out to being relit, while the new title and launch year appear on the screen, without even an indication of the platforms.
An unfortunate project
As you will certainly remember, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was presented in 2020 with a trailer that left fans of the 2023 original dumbfounded, characterized by a frankly questionable graphic style and which in some cases has even been transformed into a meme.
Precisely on the basis of this lukewarm reception, Ubisoft decided to postpone the exit of the renovation indefinitely, and since then the project has disappeared from the radar, leaving behind only a trail of more or less reliable rumors about the fact that the works had been restarted from scratch.
Beyond the indications on the state of development, establishing that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be released in 2026 also means creating some space for a franchise that has received a lot of attention lately, thanks first to The Lost Crown and then to The Rogue Prince of Persia.
