Netflix has confirmed to Forbes that it is collaborating with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's company Archewell to produce two new non-fiction shows. This announcement, made on Thursday, represents the fourth and fifth production to emerge from a deal valued at $100 million with the royal couple.
What will the first series be about?
The first series will be produced by Meghan Markle and will celebrate the pleasures of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship, according to Netflix. This theme seems to be in line with the Duchess' recent announcement about the launch of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The program will be directed by Michael Steed, known for his work on the series 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown'. Leah Hariton, author and producer who participated in the program 'Selena + Chef' nominated for a Daytime Emmy with Selena Gomez, will also be part of the creative team.
What will the second series be about?
In the next season of 'Welcome to Wrexham', showrunner Miloš Balać will provide the audience with never-before-seen access to the professional polo environment.
What is the release date of the productions?
Netflix announced that his new program will highlight the bravery and passion inherent in sports, an activity that Prince Harry has practiced for much of his life and that has apparently continued after his move to California in 2020.
So far, the announced productions do not have a defined title or a scheduled release date. However, the streaming platform has indicated that more details will be revealed in the coming months.
Would Prince Harry and Megan Markle step down as royals?
In January 2020Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step down from their roles as members of the British royal family. They attributed his departure to media harassment in the United Kingdom and discriminatory and racist treatment within the monarchical institution. After their move to California, the couple began several business ventures, including founding Archewell, a charity organization and audiovisual content producer. In addition, they established lucrative agreements with Netflix and Spotify, valued at 100 million and 20 million dollars, respectively. However, the contract with Spotify ended last year because the couple reportedly failed to meet certain productivity benchmarks. Markle moved her podcast 'Archetypes' to Lemonada Media.

Recently, amid speculation about Princess Catherine's absence before her cancer treatment was revealed, Markle launched a new brand called American Riviera Orchard. The brand's promotion was carried out through a series of nine Instagram posts and a short video, showing the Duchess engaging in activities such as arranging flowers and baking, as well as appearing on a stone catwalk in a long dress.
Although few details were shared at first, company records indicated that it plans to open an online retail store to carry a variety of products, from tableware and cutlery to cookbooks and stationery. Magazine People announced that the store is scheduled to launch this spring.
