the slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma) suffers multiple contusions and superficial injuries on the right side as a result of a fall on the finish line of the sixteenth stage of the Back to Spaindisputed between Sanlúcar de Barrameda and Tomares.

According to the report signed by the race doctors, the three-time winner of the Vuelta suffers “polycontusions, superficial injuries to the elbow, hip and knee on the right side that have required local treatment.”

Roglic, who had launched an attack with 2.7 km to go, was in full sprint with four other runners when a brush with the British Fred Wright unbalanced him, he fell spectacularly against the asphalt.

The Slovenian crossed the finish line with the same time as the stage winner, the Dane Mads Pedersen, and 8 seconds ahead of the Belgian and leader of the race Remco Evenepoel.

The Jumbo Visma team issued a statement warning that Roglic will be examined before the start of this Wednesday’s stage to find out if he is still in the race.
