After September 21, the demand for sleeping bags, thermal underwear, comfortable shoes, a number of medicines and other goods has noticeably increased in Russia. These products are in demand among citizens who have fallen under partial mobilization, and among volunteers, follows from a letter from the State Duma deputy from United Russia Alexander Yakubovsky to the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office. Izvestia got acquainted with a copy of the document.
Indeed, there is an increase in demand for essential goods and a sharp decline in other goods, Yulia Nekrasova, an expert on marketplaces, confirmed. Any shock event provokes a speculative rise in prices, said Alexander Peremyatov, president of the Magic Group consulting company.
Izvestia got acquainted with the prices for Wildberries. Some types of thermal underwear on the site have risen in price. For example, a set of fleece underwear this week is sold at a price of 1.6 thousand rubles, although last week it was 20% cheaper.
Similar products with merino wool, which this week will cost 3.8 thousand rubles, and last week cost 2.7 thousand – that is, the product has become more expensive by 40%. But there are also reverse examples: for example, in the category of flashlights there are both examples of an increase in price (+27% over the same period) and a decrease in cost. Prices for batteries and heating pads have also been creeping down this week.
According to Egor Klopenko, an analyst and founder of the investment company Klopenko Group, the prices of the listed goods increased by 10-20% on average. There are also more serious speculations, he added.
The parliamentarian asked the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office to check the validity of the increase in the cost of production.
