Price of LP gas in Mexico remains unchanged: CRE

Mexico.- For the week that includes Sunday 8 to Saturday May 14 of the current year, the average price of liquefied petroleum gas (LP) will be similar to that of the last three weeks, which means that the cost to the consumer will not have significant variationsaccording to the list published by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

Due to the above, the average cost in the national territory of the fuel will be 22.55 pesos per kilogram, in the case of stationary, while the gas in cylinder presentation will have an average cost for the public of 22.46 pesos.

In the particular case of the Mexico City and some municipalities of the State of Mexicothe liquefied petroleum gas will be offered, this week that begins, at 23.54 pesos per kilogram and at 11.71 pesos per liter.

In recent weeks, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (prophet) has emphasized that the average cost of LP gas in Mexico continues to remain below that offered internationally.

This has been pointed out by the federal agency entitled by Ricardo Sheffield Padillathanks to the policy implemented since 2021 by the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador through which it is established a maximum price for domestic fuelthereby preventing the product from being offered outside the ranges determined by the federal administration.

Also, this week, President López Obrador officially presented the anti-inflationary plan of his government through which he seeks to contain the prices of 24 products that make up the basic basket of Mexico.

In this framework, the head of the Federal Executive Power announced that this new federal strategy will include actions focused on the price of different fuelssuch as gas and gasoline, all in order to deal with the increasingly high national inflation that has affected the country’s economy.

“This has to do with the prices of gasoline, gas, diesel, but we are also considering the promotion of productive activities, especially what has to do with planting,” he explained.
