Mexico City.– Morena’s coordinator in the Senate, Adán Augusto López, assured this Tuesday that the PRI parliamentary group, led by Manuel Añorve, will vote in favor of the reform of the National Guard.
During the session of the Joint Committees on Constitutional Matters and Legislative Studies, in order for the National Guard to be transferred to the Sedena, the Morena senator said that the PRI members will support the initiative.
“I know that Manuel Añorve and the PRI members are going to vote yes… and tomorrow we will see it in the session,” he said during the debate in the joint committees. After López Hernández asked him if, if he had been in charge of governing Guerrero, he would have made the decision to involve the National Guard in the fight against organized crime, Añorve took the floor to state that he had voted yes and would vote again “because the Armed Forces, at that time, would be providing public security services for four more years.”
“I gave my arguments and I still think that returning the Army to the barracks would have been an absurdity. What is my argument? The strengthening of the municipal and state police was not accomplished and we left all responsibility to the Armed Forces and the National Guard,” replied the PRI member Manuel Añorve.
The Morena leader also called on the PAN leader and senator, Marko Cortés, and his fellow legislators to support the minute to finalize the transfer of the National Guard to the Sedena. “I know how Tere Jiménez, her first government action in Aguascalientes was to ask for the National Guard to be reinforced, and how Diego Sinuhé, could not handle the Zamarripa mafia there in Guanajuato, and what he asked for in writing, and María Eugenia Campos, and others.
“So, let’s go together. The debate and what will change the country is not what we are discussing here, we are building it together,” he urged the PAN members.
