'Debut' in Gresini
On January 20, 2024, a new era began for MotoGP. It can be debated whether or not it could become a successful era, but there is no doubt that the presentation of Marc Marquez as a Ducati rider for the Gresini team marks the definitive departure from the previous decade, in which the Spaniard raced and won for Honda, becoming one of the most titled and celebrated champions ever.
Then came the injuries, the missed races, the half-service returns and the endless problems with a bike that had evidently lost its strengths. Now a new adventure begins for the eight-time world champion which is inevitably followed with enormous attention by an entire country – Spain – which in recent years has lost, at least in MotoGP, the enormous centrality – in terms of titles won – it had in recent years.
New colors
“Close your eyes and imagine Marc Márquez preparing to get on a MotoGP bike […] – he writes in the newspaper AS the Spanish journalist Víctor Serrano – you surely imagine him with a white tracksuit, with red, orange and blue inserts and with the Honda and Repsol logos printed on the chest. […]. Those colors […] they do not exist anymore. […] they became the blue and red of Gresini Racingwhich he wears for the first time together with his brother Álex“.
A visual shock that is accompanied by Marc Marquez's newfound desire for success: “[…] the black suit worn in Cheste has taken on a new color and appears brighter than ever on the smile of a Márquez who allows the Italian team to dream big, although Marc prefers 'to go slowly at the beginning, because if you eat too quickly you won't feel well'. So he doesn't set himself objectives, but targets to focus on: 'When someone came to Honda he looked at me. Now that I come to Ducati my attention will be turned to Bagnaia and Martin, I have a lot to learn from them'“.
Those directly involved know it, the apprenticeship could be short
