We reject the aggression against President Dina Boluarte. If you can disagree, and have different ideologies, but you will never attack cowardly. Continue traveling to areas with fewer resources @presidenciaperu. The interior of the country needs your presence. pic.twitter.com/qwH2K6PWYm

The incident occurred during an event to launch an infrastructure project, which includes the expansion of the drinking water and sewage system and paving of roads.
The attacker was identified as Ruth Bárcena, widow of Leonardo Ancco Chacca, a machine operator shot in protests against the president in December 2022.

“What a crime I committed, I came to ask for justice for my husband. They killed my husband”, the widow told the station.
According to the Channel NBárcena was removed by the police, but was not detained because of protesters against the Peruvian president who were there.
