Netflix continues to advance rapidly with its live-action adaptation of the popular show Nickelodeon, Avatar the last Airbender. A few months ago we met who would give life to the protagonists and it has not been long since the actor was chosen for Lord Ozai.
Now, the live-action family of Avatar keep growing, well they have revealed some new additions to the cast. Among them we find the dreaded admiral Zhao of the fire nation, as well as the pair of father figures to Aang and Zuko: teacher Gyatso and the good uncle Iroh.
The live-action Avatar series already has its wise tea lover
The uncle Iroh is one of the most beloved characters of the entire first series of Avatar. Although it accompanies the prince Zuko on his quest to capture Aang, the evil that is usually related to the fire nation seems not to be present in it. In fact, their greatest interests are usually small tea parties and giving wise advice.
That is why perhaps more than one fan of Avatar know that we will be seeing it in the flesh. The actor who will give life to the uncle Iroh will be Paul Sung Hyun-Lee, whom we had already seen in the role of Appa in the series Kim’s Convenience. The truth is that he has a rather paternal face.
Of course, the Avatar couldn’t be without his own father figure in this adaptation: the friendly, and sometimes mischievous, teacher. Gyatso. He will be played by Lim Kay Siu, an actor with quite a reputation in Asia. Interestingly, his career has been full of villain roles, a stark contrast to Gyatso. We’ll see how he does it.
At the moment we do not know how much of the series will be adapted in the first season of Netflix’s Avatar, but it seems that it will be the book of water. If so, it will probably not be the last news we have about the cast, as there are some important characters missing such as Roku and Yue. Do you think it is a good adaptation?
