Formula 3 will see a new face starting from next season, with the Press looking for a new affirmation in the Drivers’ championship which the Venetian team has been missing since 2021. This is the young American Ugo Ugochukwua 17-year-old who has already started his partnership with the Grisignano di Zocco manufacturer in 2022 and who has further developed his talent in McLaren, being a member of the Young Driver Development Program of the Woking team.
Ugochukwu’s progress
After excellent results in karting, Ugochukwu (son of Luca Orlandi and former Nigerian model Oluchi Onweagba) won the Euro 4 title last year, as well as becoming vice-champion in the Italian Formula 4 championship. Results which, combined with the good performances in European Regional Formula, have definitively convinced Prema to focus on him for 2025 in Formula 3.
The first comments
“I am really happy to announce that I will be racing with PREMA in the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship – declared Ugochukwu in his first words as an official Formula 3 driver – working with all the people here is special, the chemistry is excellent and it makes the job really enjoyable on and off the track. We’ve had two good seasons together and I’m looking forward to building on that and I’m sure we’ll have a good year.”
A personal happiness mixed with the team’s intention to start again with him in 2025 after the title they came close to in Monza with Gabriele Minì: “We have enjoyed working with Ugo over the last two years, moving from Formula 4 to Formula Regional, and think he has great potential – added René Rosin, Director of Prema – we are convinced that next year will be suitable for FIA Formula 3 in terms of approach and driving style. We will begin preparations soon and look forward to helping him make a successful transition to the new series.”
