New residents have appeared at Frogmore Cottage, the home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which is located on the territory of Windsor Castle. Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank moved into the cottage. The couple is now expecting their first child, which should be born early next year.
As the edition writes The sunAbout two weeks ago, Harry and Megan’s belongings were taken out of the house in the middle of the night, which were then transported to California – to their new luxury mansion worth $ 14 million. Earlier, cottage staff had been asked to clean up a house that had been closed for more than eight months. It was assumed then that Harry could come back here for Christmas. However, this information was later refuted.
Frogmore Cottage was donated to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth II for their wedding. The mansion underwent a major renovation, which spent more than $ 3 million from taxpayer money. The couple settled in the house only in April 2019 – about a month before the birth of their first child Archie. And already in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess announced that they were resigning from the powers of the members of the royal family. By that time, they had already settled in Canada. Later, Harry and Meghan moved to the United States. They said they retain Frogmore Cottage as their British residence. However, recent events make one think that the couple do not plan to return to England anymore. Previously, they have already returned to the treasury the money spent on its repair.
Eugenia and Jack, who agreed with Harry and received the keys to the house, previously lived in Ivy Cottage on the territory of Kensington Palace in London. The divorced parents of the 30-year-old princess, Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, live just a few kilometers from Frogmore Cottage – in the Royal Lodge residence in Windsor Park. And in the Windsor Castle itself, Eugenia’s grandparents, Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, now live.
