The mortal remains of José Luis Pardos now rest in peace in the Santísimo Cristo del Consuelo cemetery in Cieza, the city where the ambassador spent his childhood and youth and where he went every year to spend a season. A simple ceremony in front of the cemetery chapel served for some of the attendees to pay him a well-deserved tribute, remembering moments and experiences with the scholar-diplomat, dedicated his entire life to the promotion of human rights, development cooperation, the environment environment and internet.
Among those in attendance was the mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, who lamented the loss of one of the most illustrious citizens of Cieza. «The diplomat Pardos, precursor of the Los Álamos Valle de Ricote Foundation, was a man who, from his training and culture, was deeply committed to his land and to others. A lover of reading, a brother and in love with Cieza, we will miss his kindness, his exquisite education and his always intelligent conversation,” he praised.
Emotion overwhelmed his lifelong friend in Cieza, maestro Domingo Méndez, who was barely able to say a word. Nor did his no less friend Conrado Navalón, former professor at the University of Murcia and current president of the Los Álamos Valle de Ricote Foundation, of which Pardos is and will always be honorary president. «Continuous learning with someone I met on the phone but who continued with a friendship that has not ceased until now, said Belén Sánchez Luengo, librarian at the University of Murcia.
Alfredo Jiménez, patron of the Foundation, did not hesitate to affirm that José Luis “was loyal to friendship.” He said that he was someone who adopted him and treated him with affection and generosity. “I remain with his strength, his drive, with his enthusiasm and spirit to learn and leave Murcia in its rightful place,” he stressed.
