Deputy Emanuele Pozzolo has been suspended from the Brothers of Italy group in the Chamber of Deputies. The decision comes from the bureau, as reported by one Note signed by the FdI group leader in the Chamber, Tommaso Foti.
“The Presidency office of the Fratelli d'Italia parliamentary group in the Chamber adopted today, as a matter of urgency, the precautionary measure of the suspension of the Honorable Emanuele Pozzolo from the group itself,” reads the press release.
The measure was announced in a press conference by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, asking “that Pozzolo be referred to the FdI arbitrators' guarantee commission and that he be suspended by FdI pending the judgement”. “The issue is that anyone who holds a weapon has the legal and moral duty to look after the weapon responsibly and seriously,” added the Prime Minister. “This is why there is a problem with what happened which says – I don't know the story, only what I have read – that someone was not responsible: who has that gun license and who holds that weapon. It's not good for an Italian, let alone for an FdI parliamentarian.”
Pozzolo ended up at the center of the storm due to an accidental shot during the New Year's Eve party in Rosazza (Biella), where a 31-year-old was wounded by a 22 caliber gun belonging to the deputy. The man injured in the leg, who then filed a complaint, is the son-in-law of an agent from the escort of the Undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro, among the guests at the party together with his sister Francesca. Pozzolo, who said he did not shoot, is being investigated by the Biella prosecutor's office for aggravated assault.
