150 thousand euros in apparently prescribed postal savings bonds recovered
The Studio Associati Maior announces a significant legal victory that has allowed the recovery of historic family savings through postal savings bonds. The firm was contacted by an individual who reported the discovery of old postal savings bonds, issued between 1999 and 2000, during a cleaning of the family’s attic. It has been learned that a substantial portion of one’s life savings, amounting to approx 50 million, had been invested in postal savings bonds by our client’s father and late grandfather. Initially, it seemed that many of these vouchers had expired, however, thanks also to the application of an extraordinary law issued during the Covid emergency, it emerged that not all vouchers had expired.
After an initial refusal by the post office, Studio Maior lodged complaints with theBanking and financial arbitrator and other competent bodies, finally obtaining the liquidation of the vouchers. This success has not been without challenges, as issues relating to co-ownership and inheritance of some of the vouchers have been resolved. The customer, after careful calculations and recalculations of interest, received a significant settlement of approximately 150,000 euroswhich he believed to be irretrievably lost.
“This legal victory represents an important result for our firm and above all for our client. – declared the lawyers Michele Francesco Sorrentino, Pierlorenzo Catalano And Filippo Castaldo – We are proud to have been able to contribute to the recovery of family savings that had been considered lost. This case demonstrates the importance of specialized legal advice and perseverance in defending our clients’ rights.”
