UEFA has fined the Portuguese along with six other clubs: if the outstanding debts are not paid by 31 January 2022, the disqualification will be triggered
Fines for eight teams and threat of exclusion from the Champions League and other European competitions for six of them if the outstanding debts in the context of Financial Fair Play are not paid within two months. The first section of the Financial Control Body of UEFA clubs has sanctioned Astana, Cluj, Cska Sofia, Mons Calpe, Porto, Betis, Clara and Sporting Lisbon.
The decision
–
The measure concerns the “no debt” requirement – which can include unpaid salaries, transfer fees or social taxes – even though the Financial Fair Play monitoring system is under review. Sporting, who have reached the round of 16 of the Champions League, and Porto, which are second in the group that also includes AC Milan, could be excluded the next time they qualify for the Champions League, the Europa League or the Conference League in the next three seasons. UEFA has set a deadline of January 31 for all clubs to prove that they have paid the outstanding amounts. Sporting fined € 250,000 and the Port of € 300,000. For the other four clubs, fines ranging from € 15,000 to € 250,000. Fines for Astana and Cluj, but no threat of disqualification.
the other case
–
In a separate proceeding, Aek Athens reached an agreement to pay a fine of 1.5 million euros and receive a 10% deduction on the prize money from the next participation in European competitions. Aek will be barred from upcoming European competitions if a future compliance audit finds similar violations in the next three seasons.
