“Three years of work: design, discussion of reconstruction and restoration, and now we can say that the pearl of the city has been returned to Muscovites,” said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. – The restoration of the Northern River Station and the improvement of the park became the largest project for creating a high-quality urban environment this year. The station building and the park are again receiving guests and will gradually fill with life. “
The restoration project initially provided for the revival of its historical function as a transport facility, and now navigation in the Moscow water area will open and close at the Northern River Station, for this 17 berths have been restored. The station was called the river gates of the capital, because from it it was possible to walk by steamer to the White, Baltic, Black, Azov and Caspian seas. Therefore, Moscow was spoken of as a port of five seas.
The renovated palace building has opened a museum of the history of Moscow transport, and it can again be used for filming. They managed to recreate the historical fountains and build one new one. The sculptures were restored and trade pavilions were installed in the 1950s style. A 400-meter stream with floodgates and illumination appeared on the embankment, imitating the Moscow, with a miniature of the building of the station itself. And in the new landscaped park there are 11 playgrounds, and next summer there will be three heated swimming pools.
