Total of 15.9 million tons was reached despite navigation being suspended for almost 5 days due to fog
The Port of Santos broke a record for cargo handling in August, with 15.9 million tons. In the year to date, since January, there were 121.5 million. The marks were obtained even though 116 hours of navigation were suspended due to fog during the month.

The president of APS (Santos Port Authority), Anderson Pomini, said that the numbers show every month that Santos is a 1st class world port: “As soon as we were classified, for example, by the 3rd largest shipping company in the world, the French company CMA GCM, which will invest R$6.3 billion in the most important port in the southern hemisphere”.
Shipments this year already exceed 90.3 million tons, an increase of 8.3% compared to 2023. The 15.9 million tons in the month are equivalent to an increase of 4.9% compared to August 2023. More than half (8.5 million) are solid bulk. Highlights include exports of sugar and soybeans, which grew by 23.8% and 17.2%, respectively.
