The victory obtained by reigning champion Larry Ten Voorde on the Monaco track, home of the second round of the season of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, was never questioned.
The Dutch driver of the GP Elite team commanded the operations from the first to the last lap, setting an unapproachable pace for his opponents and then crossing the finish line with an advantage of almost 5 seconds.
The fight for the second step of the podium was decidedly more intense, which saw Dorian Boccolacci impose himself at the end of 17 intense laps during which the Frenchman of Martiney by Alméras kept an unleashed Laurin Heinrich at bay but never able to find the necessary inspiration to try to overtake.
Thanks to his second consecutive success in Monaco, ten Voorde is now the new championship leader and has taken the lead from Dylan Pereira who finished fourth ahead of team mate Harry King.
“From the outside it may have seemed that everything was easy, but it wasn’t. I had to stay totally focused and try to ride on the cleanest line possible, ”said ten Voorde. At the end of the race, the Dutchman had to face an unexpected problem: “I have to find a black suit. I thought it might be a bad omen and I didn’t bring one ”.
Great satisfaction was expressed by Dorian Boccolacci, second at the end of an impeccable race in which he rejected every attack from Heinrich: “Last year I finished third in Munich, now second. So next year I should be able to win, “joked the Frenchman.
“I almost overtook Dorian at the start and had joined him, but I would have had to drive on the dirty side of the track approaching the Casino and I didn’t want to take that risk” declared Heinrich who after this opportunity had no other chance to overtake Boccolacci. .
In the category reserved for rookies success for Bastian Buus, ninth overall at the finish. The Danish driver of BWT Lechner Racing celebrated the second victory in the category as well as Roar Lindland, once again winner in the Pro Am class.
The next round of the Porsche Supercup will be in July over the weekend that will see Formula 1 take to the track on the historic Silverstone track.
