During a closed dealer meeting, Porsche would have shown a completely new top model. It would be a crossover model that positions itself above the Cayenne, with three rows of seats and seven seats. The dealers who have confessed, described the new model as a large SUV with a sedan body. The exterior design would be completely different from that of the Macan and Cayenne today.
That new Porsche top model would debut in 2024 with a plug-in hybrid drive unit, but soon be joined by a 100% electric variant.
Porsche responds
Porsche reacted quickly to the news. The car shown during the famous dealer meeting would not be a prelude to a concrete production model. It is a design from the Unseen programme, in which designers and engineers are encouraged to experiment with future projects. Mostly, those design studies remain secret, although a lot of those experimental creations were made public in 2020.
That super SUV that Porsche may or may not be developing could become a technological extension of Project Artemis that Audi is currently working on. That should lead to an electric crossover with three rows of seats and seven seats in 2024… Is a collaboration like Porsche Taycan / Audi e-Tron GT in the works? Or are we looking too far and Porsche is only anticipating the arrival of the BMW X8 M?
