During the last 24 hours, the Popocatépetl volcano registers a constant eruptive activity.
According to reports issued by the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred), have detected 235 exhalations accompanied by water vapor, volcanic gases and ash.
In addition, today there was a moderate explosion at 05:00 hoursas well as six smaller explosions, four of them occurred yesterday at 18:05, 21:56, 23:02 and 23:57 and two more today at 07:11 and 08:14.
During the day, 62 minutes of low-amplitude and harmonic tremors and two volcanotectonic earthquakes of magnitude 1.4 each were recorded, both recorded today at 04:13 and 04:16, respectively.
All morning there was a constant emission of water vapor and volcanic gases with northeast direction which confirms that the eruptive activity will continue.
In the municipality of San Nicolas de los Ranchos, Puebla, lightly reported ashfall, For this reason, local authorities recommended covering the nose and mouth with a handkerchief or face mask in case of being in areas close to the volcano.
Cenapred maintains the volcanic alert in yellow phase 2that is, it is expected that intermediate low-scale explosive activity is maintained and with it, light or moderate ash fallout, as well as the possibility of short-range pyroclastic flows and mudflows in nearby towns.
The population is urged to be attentive to the recommendations of the authorities and not to approach the volcano.
