The Russian side has prepared several “surprises” for former Western partners who requested a regular meeting in the UN Security Council on September 7, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the organization, said in his Telegram.
He noted that the United States and Albania insisted on discussing the alleged “filtration” of Ukrainians in Russia.
“Of course, and we have something to say in response, we also have some surprises in store for our former Western partners, let them not relax and have no illusions that we can be taken by surprise!” he wrote.
In addition, Polyansky spoke about the September 6 meeting in the Security Council, which discussed the situation with the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
“In our speech, we placed the necessary accents, once again fixing our current positions and assessments of the development of the situation around the ZNPP, including the arrival of the IAEA mission (International Atomic Energy Agency – Ed.),” he specified.
At the same time, the first deputy permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN noted that neither the general director of the agency, Rafael Grossi, nor the members of the Security Council dared to admit that the Ukrainian side was shelling the station.
Grossi said at a meeting on September 6 that the IAEA would soon submit proposals to the parties to the conflict on ensuring the safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
At the same time, the IAEA summed up the results of a five-day mission to ZNPP. A report was published confirming the attacks and damage.
On Wednesday, September 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he trusted the IAEA report, but the organization is under pressure from the United States and European countries, so he cannot say that the shelling of the ZNPP comes from Ukrainian territory, although this is obvious.
The Zaporozhye NPP was taken under the protection of Russian forces during a special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which the Russian leader announced on February 24.
