BiDiMedia survey: Pd first party thanks to the vote of the Over 55, but among the young the Brothers of Italy is in the lead
In the first national BiDiMedia survey carried out after the administrative elections, the PD rises again. Enrico Letta's party returns to 21%, a percentage that the Dems did not reach from the splits of Calenda and Renzi. Carlo Calenda also did well, who despite the defeat in Rome sees his party, Action, rise to 3.3% (the only one among the minor formations to exceed the 3% threshold).
THE OVER 55 VOTE PD
The first position of the Pd it is mainly due to the consensus among the over 55s, an age group in which it is the first party, with over 26% of the votes. Detached the League, which is satisfied with 21% and second place. Brothers of Italy closes the podium with just under 19%, while the M5S is far behind, obtaining only 15% of the votes.
THE UNDER 35 LOOK AT MELONS (AND CALENDA)
In young people (under 35) the first party with 21% is Brothers of Italy, which thus undermines the Democratic Party which stands at about two points away. The League is very weak in this age bracket, obtaining less than 13% against the over 19% it obtains in the general electorate.
The M5S is also bad, with less than 12%, while it has a real boom Action by Carlo Calenda which would be, with over 7% of the votes, the fifth party in the political scenario, ousting Forza Italia. Far above their average also the Italian Left and Green Europe, both above 3%. In general there is a good performance of the small center-left parties, including Volt and Possible.
YOUNG ADULTS: LEGA PRIMA, FDI AND M5S IMMEDIATELY BEHIND
In the middle range, with voters between 35 and 54, the situation is completely different. Close fight for the first place, with about 20% of the consensus, between Lega, Fratelli d'Italia and M5S with the first ticking it for a few decimal places. Low result for the Democratic Party, reduced to 15%. The whole area of the center-left and left, including the liberal center, is bad in general. You save right Action, which obtains a value similar to the average.
The consensus of Forza Italia appears homogeneous between the various age groups and here too it stands at around 6.5%. Weak the other center-left and center parties, with Italia Viva, however, making its best result: 2%.
A PATCHWORK DIFFICULT TO GOVERN
Overall, the BiDiMedia data give us a decidedly jagged picture, with a very different grade in the three age groups taken into consideration. This "generational conflict" is added to those already known between small towns and large cities, as well as, within the latter, between suburbs and "Ztl". The latest administrative session also confronts us with the clear split between those who go to vote, for those who consider it more deserving, and those who do not think it is more worthwhile. A decidedly complicated scenario, which requires great foresight on the part of those who are candidates to govern it.
