Polish soldier who escaped to Belarus spoke about the execution of migrants

Emil Chechko, a Polish serviceman who fled to Belarus and asked for political asylum, said that he had participated in the killings of illegal migrants by Polish border guards. About this he told in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel.

According to him, border guards shot not only migrants – two volunteers who tried to help refugees also became victims of security officials.

It became known about the crossing of the Belarusian border by a Polish soldier on December 17. The State Border Committee of Belarus said that on the eve of a serviceman of the Polish Armed Forces, Chechko, born in 1996, who had deserted from the 11th Mazurian Artillery Regiment, was stopped by a patrol at the Tushemlya frontier post. He applied for political asylum in Belarus because of his disagreement with the policy of the authorities in Warsaw regarding the migration crisis and the practice of inhumane treatment of refugees.

Finding the Guilty One

Earlier, Chechko said that in his homeland “they are going to make the worst person out of him.” “They say that I am creating problems in the army or that I have died in general. This is obvious, ”he said. At the same time, Warsaw has already accused Chechko of problems with the law. “The soldier, who went missing yesterday, had serious problems with the law and filed for dismissal from the army. He should not have been sent to serve at the border, ”said Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.

Former President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski named the culprit in the escape of the Polish soldier to the territory of Belarus. In his opinion, the responsibility for the escaped soldier should be assigned to the Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszak. “The person who commands everything is responsible for such situations. In this case, the Minister of National Defense must take on moral and political responsibility, said Komorowski. “It was he who sent these soldiers to the border, although they were not trained to replace border guards or police.”

In addition, the ex-president noted that when he himself was the Minister of Defense, he also had similar situations. “I then took responsibility for society,” he recalled.

In turn, the former commander of the Polish ground forces, Waldemar Skshipchak, said that Chechko must be shot.

He noted that the soldier went over to the side of the conditional enemy “in the conditions of war.” In this regard, the ten years in prison, which he faces on the criminal charges of the prosecutor’s office, cannot be considered a sufficient punishment.

The official representative of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus Dmitry Brylev said that Minsk will send documents to international structures for a criminal case against Poland due to the situation with migrants. According to him, the department has collected copies of evidence in five volumes confirming Poland’s ill-treatment of refugees.

It is clarified that the materials will be transferred to international and European structures, including the European Parliament, for a legal assessment.

Since the beginning of 2021, nine bodies of illegal immigrants have been found on Polish territory. The border guards also recorded about 40 thousand attempts to illegally cross the border. This is ten times more than in 2020. The Polish authorities and representatives of other EU countries believe that the Belarusian authorities are to blame for the outbreak of the crisis, provoking an influx of migrants.
