The United States Embassy in Peru indicated through a statement that the operation was carried out with the support of the National Immigration and Customs Security Research Office of the United States Embassy in Peru (HSI Lima).
He said that on Friday night 300 agents of the National Police of Peru (PNP) of specialized units were deployed, together with agents of HSI Lima and police officers of the HSI Transnational Criminal Investigation Unit.
These intervened the districts of the Peruvian capital of Santa Anita, San Martín de Porres and Puente Piedra and “as a result of the directed operation, 20 arrests were made and 84 victims were rescued, two of them minors.”
In addition, “at least eight locations were identified to execute the arrest of approximately 24 individuals to dismantle a suspicious network of trafficking in persons involving around 50 minor victims.”

The ambassador indicated that “the success” of this operation “is a testimony of the great work that we can achieve together to improve the security of our citizens and our shared region.”
The Embassy added that the United States National Security Department works with its partners in the application of the law as a priority “to combat the growing threats to public security that represent transnational criminal organizations.”
