The Civil Police of the Federal District have already arrested three suspects of setting fire to vegetation in the outskirts of Brasília. All of them confessed to the crime and told investigators that their objective was to clear the forested areas with fire.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (September 18) for setting fire to vegetation. The fire was allegedly carried out on August 12, affecting 10 homes in the region. Another man was arrested on Tuesday (September 17). And the last suspect was arrested on Friday (September 13).
The GDF (Government of the Federal District) plans to purchase new drones with thermal capacity to combat fires in Brasília. There are aircraft that are being used in the actions, mainly, in the Brasília National Park.

Brasília completes 148 days without rain this Wednesday (September 18). The current dry season in the federal capital is the longest in the last 6 decades and is second only to that recorded in 1963, when the city went 163 days without rain.
According to the Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), there is no forecast of precipitation in the federal capital this week. Brasília is under yellow alert because of low humidity and possible gales.
