The ghost pole
An excursion on the greenery that defines the runway limit it cost the pole position (with track record) to Marc Marquez in Motegi. But there is controversy, for the timing of the cancellation sanction of the time, which arrived not immediately, but after the checkered flag. This denied Marquez the chance to score 1-2 further laps.
The social controversy
On X Marc Marquez complained to the FIM Race Direction, not so much about having the lap that gave him pole canceled due to track limits, but more about the delay in notifying the sanction: “Okay, but the timing of notification of the sanction…”
As explained better in a post – later deleted – on X from his chief mechanic Frankie Carchedi: “The biggest mistake was that aWe had the possibility of doing two more laps and instead you announced it after the session.”
The Gresini team champion will therefore start from ninth place, third row.
