Illegal migrants are less and less willing to cross the Belarusian-Polish border illegally. This was announced on Monday, November 15, by the press secretary of the Polish border service Anna Mikhalskaya.
“The number of illegal border crossing attempts is decreasing every day. A month ago, on October 14, there were 685 such attempts. Yesterday there were 17 of them. This indicates that the actions of the Polish services are successful. Migrants are less and less willing to cross the border. We are witnessing attempts to force the border crossing, ”Mikhalskaya said.
Earlier that day, refugees who arrived at the Polish checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border broke through part of the barriers set up by Poland. At the same time, migrants from the Middle East also began to leave the spontaneous camp near the border. It was noted that a large convoy of refugees, accompanied by Belarusian security officials, went out towards the frontier checkpoint “Bruzgi”.
On Monday, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country does not want a conflict on its state border. According to him, Poland needs the conflict.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, the day before, indicated that the Russian Federation is ready to help resolve the migration crisis on the border of Belarus and Poland, if something depends on it. He clarified that the accusations of Russia’s involvement in the situation on the border between Poland and Belarus are “an attempt to shift problems from a sore head to a healthy one.”
On November 12, a group of migrants broke through the fence at the Bruzgi checkpoint at the border with Poland, but later they were detained by Polish border guards. Also, a group of women with children tried to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border, their actions were also suppressed.
Over the past week, the situation on the border between Poland and Belarus has seriously deteriorated. Since Monday, November 8, several thousand migrants have been trying to enter the EU and have set up camp in a forest belt adjacent to the border. The Polish authorities refuse to let the refugees in and have pulled large-caliber military equipment into the area.
