It’s hard to say goodbye to something you’ve worked for all your life, so when real estate agents knocked on his door, Pole Michal Myslowski decided that no matter how much they offered him, he would not sell his land. Now he harvests his crops in the middle of large buildings in the city of Lublin.
Initially, real estate agents warned him that he was making a mistake, as his field would be surrounded by apartment buildings, which would invade the area to make it urban. However, Myslowski was convinced and no one would change his mind about his acres of land.
Many of the farmers of Lublin, the ninth largest city in Poland, agreed to sell their fields and little by little the promise was fulfilled: the land was surrounded by housing complexes. Little by little, the neighbors got used to the tractors and the peculiar view and today, the property is one of the great icons of the place.
The landscape contrasts: buildings with multiple apartments, cars passing through the streets, traffic lights, concrete sidewalks and a big yellow tractor doing this year’s harvest from Jantarowa Street. The field remains in spite of everything.
Neighbors and Myslowski himself have had to learn to live together, with everything and the noise, but both are respectful of the other’s lifestyle and, on the contrary, celebrate the farmer for his conviction and have even shared videos of the peculiar environment.
Countryside in the middle of the city, an internet sensation
The images of the field in the middle of the city They surprised users and quickly went viral. Local media came to the scene to meet Myslowski, who revealed that he feels comfortable with his neighbors.
“People are fine. They understand that I have work to do. They watch and make videos. The children are happy too. There have never been problems with that, ”said the farmer who grows canola on his land.
Katarzyna, a local resident, assured the Polish media Dziennik Wschodni: “As a resident, I can say that it doesn’t bother us at all, on the contrary. It is better to have such a view when looking out the window than to be surrounded by concrete buildings. “
Another neighbor in the area called Monika assured that her children follow the progress of production and enjoy the harvest, “the children wait for this moment all year round. It doesn’t bother us, we are happy ”.
As for the videos circulating on social media, Myslowski added that they don’t bother him “at all. I would probably share them too ”.
“It is quite a sensation for people who live in the city and are not used to seeing machines. It generates curiosity and it is not surprising. I approach all of this with humor, ”he commented.
