In an interview, Niantic explained his plans for the future of Pokémon GO and how the developers intend to keep the community active for many years even when there will be no new Pokémon to add.
Arriving on smartphones and tablets in 2016, Pokémon GO still enjoys great popularity all over the world today. One of the keys to success in recent years, of course, is the continuous support from Niantic, which has introduced content with which to entertain players at regular intervals. In particular, the arrival of new creatures to collect is one of the things most appreciated by the community. But what will happen when Pokémon GO catches up with the main series and there are no more new Pokémon to add?
A dilemma on which Niantic has actually been reflecting for a long time, with the development team aiming to support Pokémon GO for a long time, perhaps even for another 0 – 15 years.
“As for the content, although there are limitations on Pokémon still available and we can add, there are a couple of initiatives we are thinking about to keep the game alive and that coincide with our ambition and mission to make Pokémon GO a game. eternal not only for the next five years, but perhaps also for 10 – 15“said EMEA product marketing manager Philip Marz, in an interview with Eurogamer.net.
“I completely agree. Being able to work on a game like this for the past five years is a dream come true for a Pokémon fan and being able to look forward to the future, we know we’ve only scratched the surface of what this game can become and what it is like. our vision, it’s something I’m personally very excited about“added Michael Sterenka, Niantic’s global product marketing manager.
Obviously Pokémon GO’s plans for the future are still a secret, but it will be interesting to find out what Niantic will come up with to support the game in the long run. Considering the success enjoyed by the mobile title five years after its release, certainly the developers have done a great job so far.
Meanwhile, Niantic has announced a number of changes that will be tested in the coming months, including new features for PokéStops.
