Niantic has joined the other developers and publishers who are practically isolating the Russia and Belarus from the rest of the world due to the war in Ukraine, with Pokémon GO and the other games of the company which is no longer available for download in the two countries and soon all game functions will also be blocked.
The announcement came with a tweet from the studio, in which solidarity with the Ukrainian people is expressed.
“We stand by the global community in the hope that peace and a speedy resolution to the violence and suffering in Ukraine will come. Niantic games are no longer available for download in Russia and Belarus and gameplay will also be suspended shortly. ”
Among the Niantic games we find, in addition to Pokémon GO, also Ingress, Transformers: Heavy Metal and Pikmin Bloom.
As we said at the beginning, Niantic is not the only protagonist in the videogame sector to have blocked the distribution of its games and / or services. Among these we also find Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and EA, just to name a few. In this case, however, the home of Pokémon GO has gone even further, completely blocking the game also for Russian and Belarusian users who had already downloaded it.
