American mixed martial artist (MMA) Dustin Poirier defeated Irish fighter Conor McGregor in the main event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 257 in Abu Dhabi.
The fight ended with Poirier winning by TKO in the second round.
“I’m happy, but I’m not surprised, I work every day,” Poirier said after the victory.
McGregor announced that they will meet again in the Octagon
Earlier on January 24, weightlifter Mikhail Koklyaev predicted McGregor’s victory in a fight with Poirier.
The day before, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov also shared his prediction. According to him, if the fight ends early, the Irishman will win, but if Poirier holds out until the third or fourth round, he will be able to beat the opponent.
McGregor and Poirier had already fought six years ago, when the Irishman won a crushing victory.
