The prestigious award of Velo Magazine goes to the 23-year-old Slovenian of UAE-Emirates: it is the first
In 2020, success in the Tour de France was not enough for Tadej Pogacar to win the Golden Veil: Primoz Roglic, 1st in Liège and Vuelta, had beaten him. This time there was no story: the 23-year-old Slovenian of UAE-Emirates managed to pair another success at the Tour de France in Liège and Lombardy. A great tour and two monuments, like only Merckx and Coppi in history. And then the Tirreno-Adriatico, the UAE Tour, the Olympic bronze … Of course the Velo d’Or, prestigious award from the French specialized magazine Velo Magazine, went to Pogacar which beat Primoz Roglic and Wout van Aert. No surprise even in the French one, which could only go to Julian Alaphilippe world champion for the second consecutive year. Among the nominations there was also Sonny Colbrelli, the 31-year-old from Brescia from Bahrain-Victorious who managed to win the Italian championship, the European championship and above all the legendary Paris-Roubaix in the rain and mud on October 3 in the same year.
