Violence and fireworks around the stadiums, the work of Arne Slot, Ten Hag and Manchester United, PSV awakens and much more in a new AD Voetbalpodcast. In it, Maarten Wijffels and Sjoerd Mossou discuss the football weekend with presenter Etienne Verhoeff on the basis of four statements.
The first statement is about who is responsible for curbing fan violence. Partly because Minister Grappenhaus was clear about this on this site on Saturday: points penalty for fan violence. ,,Basically not a bad idea”, says Sjoerd Mossou. “You just have to formulate it very well. You cannot hold clubs responsible for inner city violence. But you can expect clubs to have security in order in the stadium. So part of the responsibility lies with them.”
But of course it is also about football in the AD Voetbalpodcast. Feyenoord won 4-0 at home against PEC Zwolle. ,,Feyenoord is competing for the title”, says Wijffels. ,,They will certainly stay in the footsteps of Ajax and PSV until the winter break. I don’t know whether they should shout loudly: ‘Feyenoord must become champion’. Only Ajax has to do that. But they must have the ambition to participate as long as possible.”
Mossou: ,,I wouldn’t say it if I were Feyenoord. Stay under the radar as long as possible and participate. Then you can see how you are doing in March or April.’
Wijffels: ,,Linssen scored again for Feyenoord this weekend. I think that’s really the player of the season so far.”
Mossou: ,,And Arne Slot is the trainer of the season so far.”
