A closer look at Sony, Microsoft and the biggest publishers.
How big is the gaming industry? And how many development studies are under Microsoft, Sony, IT’S AT and so on? The Twitter user Idle Sloth through a graph he showed a part of the world of video games, focusing on some large companies.
The pie chart is broken down by development studios under the wing of Microsoft, Sony, EA, Take-Two and Embracer Group. As you can see from the image at the bottom of this article, it is Embracer Group that has many more development studies than other companies. Obviously the graph shows more than anything else the number of studies and not the actual value of each company.
Idle Sloth however points out that other companies are not present in this graph: Tencent, Capcom, Sega, Konami, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Bandai Namco, Nintendo, 505 Games, Annapurna, Focus Entertainment, Devolver Digital, Team 17, Warner Bros, Paradox Interactive, Koei Tecmo, NetEase, Nexon, Aksys Games, Netmarble, Marvelous Inc, Nippon Ichi Software and other indie studios.

Following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, many have spoken of a possible monopoly by the Redmond company, but as we can see from the graph, things are not exactly like that.
