Since last week, several announcements from companies of all sizes have been arriving confirming the suspension of video game sales in Russia following the invasion of Ukraine. Now Sony announced its measures regarding PlayStation.
Sony has already made the decision to withdraw Gran Turismo 7 from sale in Russia last Friday, but now the company has confirmed broader action, including the suspension of all hardware and software distributions and the halt of its operations on PlayStation. Store in Russia as the country continues its attack on Ukraine.
“Sony Interactive Entertainment joins the global community in calling for peace in Ukraine“the company wrote in a statement.”We have suspended all software and hardware distributions, the launch of Gran Turismo 7 and PlayStation Store operations in Russia“.
Sony added that it will also support humanitarian aid and victims of Russian military action with a $ 2 million donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Save the Children.
Sony’s move follows similar measures from Microsoft, EA, CD Projekt, Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft and Take-Two.
