MLB: The Show is a series of video games based on the Major League Baseball of the United States. These famous titles are developed by San Diego Studio, who in turn belong to Sony Interactive Entertainment, the creators of PlayStation.
Because of this, the titles of MLB had been, for years, exclusive to platforms PlayStation of Sony. However, that changed recently, when they decided that MLB: The Show 21 would also be released for the consoles of Microsoft: Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S.
An excellent move by PlayStation
Although this decision may seem strange to many, it turns out that in the long run it generated very good profits for PlayStation. According to a recent financial report from Sony which was recovered by the journalist, Daniel Ahmad. Sales of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Y MLB: The Show 21, they exceeded their expectations.
Later in the same report, they talk about how downloadable content greatly helped their growth in the first quarter of the year, along with MLB 21. This may prompt PlayStation to get more of your first party titles in other systems, to improve your sales. As was the case Days gone Y Horizon zero dawn that are already available in Pc.
Another of the considerable points of the report is that 71% of sales during the first quarter of the year were through the digital stores of PlayStation. Which is very good for developers, since they generate more profit like that, than if they sold it physically.
We do not know exactly how the percentages are between PlayStation Y Xbox regarding the sales of the titles. However, this report could tell us that perhaps the so-called ‘console war’ could come to an end in the future and we will see everyone’s titles anywhere, it would only be a matter of preference. Would you like it that way or do you prefer to remain in factions?
