As scheduled, the catalog of PlayStation Plus Premium expands today with others three classic games from PS2 freely available for subscribers to the highest tier of the Sony subscription, also demonstrating the company’s greater commitment to the recovery of games belonging to the legendary second console.
The three games in question had already been announced among those arriving in June in PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, and are available from today, Tuesday 11 June 2024, with the possibility of download which should already be open.
The three PS2 games in question are:
Tomb Raider Legend
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Sly Raccoon (Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus)
Did the relaunch of PS2 games start with Premium?
These are games of a certain fame, and above all they demonstrate a notable relaunch in the recovery of PS2 titles within the scope of PlayStation Plus Premium.
The first shipment of games belonging to this console on the Sony service, in fact, did not fully convince.
The first titles had some emulation problems and, in general, they weren’t exactly the best way to enjoy some historical classics of the gaming industry. However, it seems that Sony has invested more in the emulation system from PS2, which should start a more substantial recovery of the library of the company’s second console, which is extremely vast.
From today it is therefore possible to recover Tomb Raider Legend, an important title as the protagonist of a sort of first reboot of the series as the start of the “second series” composed of the trilogy with Anniversary and Underworld and capable of bringing a notable modernization to the game between mechanics and various characteristics.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a tie-in shooter of the film that had quite satisfied fans at the time, while Sly Raccoon (known in the USA as Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus) is a beloved 3D platformer with cel-shaded graphics which marked the first major success for Sucker Punch.
