Sony continues to expand its influence in various parts of the world: after having seen the investments made in China, South Korea and India, the new step concerns Africa, and in particular the South Africa with a new strategic agreement with the team Carry1st.
The firm is based in Cape Town in South Africa, and it is a startup that Sony has evidently considered very interesting for future growth of the sector in this geographical area. “We strongly believe that there are great underappreciated opportunities in Africa,” said Cordell Robbin-Coker, CEO and co-founder of the company.
There is also an online payment platform involved
The details of the agreement and what this means for the team and for Sony are not yet clear, but considering what has been done in other local studios around the world, the partnership should guarantee the stock development in temporal or total exclusivity in the next period.
In any case, “our hope is that we can help Sony expand their influence in the region and support them in various ways, including broader market strategies, as well as managing digital businesses.” In fact, Carry1st is also linked to the online payment system called Pay1st, which could provide an interesting technology platform for Sony regarding digital purchases and microtransactions.
