According to an investor, Andrew of the Marsipan Games blog, who published a long and interesting analysis on the state of Sony, PlayStation is in growth mode and could have a figure between 13 and 18 billion dollars per new acquisitions.
Of course this is his evaluation, however well motivated and interesting, therefore worthy of note.
According to Andrew, the fact that PlayStation is growing strongly is there for all to see, as it has acquired more developers in 2021 than it has acquired between 2010 and 2020. According to him, the trend will continue next year and, indeed, we are only at the beginning of the growth phase, which will become even more aggressive.
For this reason Sony would have given SIE a budget between 13 and 18 billion dollars for growth, which in any case does not concern only the video game sector, a figure much higher than that given to other sectors of the company, namely Sony Music and Sony Pictures.
To favor the growth strategy of SIE is obviously the success of its consoles, PS4 first and PS5 now. The goal for the new studios and for those already part of the PlayStation Studios would be efficiency. According to Andrew Sony would like to bring everyone to be able to manage 2-4 games at the same time as Insomniac, which from a production point of view is seen as the model study for the entire PlayStation group.
