A new software update for PS5 is available very recently; Continuous firmware updates are becoming the norm with Sony’s new console. The update, software version 21.01-03.20.00, is mainly dedicated to a series of fixes that improve system performance, but this time there are some noteworthy changes. If you want to know in detail any changes made by this update, I refer you to PlayStation support page.
Aside from improving system performance (a pretty standard thing), the DualSense controller software has been updated to improve stability. According to Reddit users, the DualSense update also fixes a bug of the battery indicator which caused the low battery icon to flash constantly even when the battery was full.
In addition, an issue has also been fixed that reduced functionality when screen readers were enabled, a user’s hidden games on PS4 will now also remain hidden on PS5, and copying games from extended USB storage devices to the PS5 SSD should be more stable and faster.
