Recently, platinumgames participated in an interview with VGC where various topics were touched upon, including the possibility that the Japanese studio be acquired by some other gaming giant. As part of this interview, company executives stated that they currently have no interest in NFT’ssince they do not see a positive impact on the industry.
Atsushi Inaba, recent CEO of the company, and Hideki Kamiya, popular video game designer, gave their opinion on these digital goods:
“I understand that it is a very relevant topic at the moment, and it is gaining a lot of traction by focusing on profitability for the company, but they do not have any positive impact for creators or users. It’s frustrating to see that happen.”
Publisher’s note: It is curious that companies like Square Enix and SEGA have been among the first to adopt the idea of NFTs, while PlatinumGames is completely opposed to them. Here in the West things seem to be more constant, as Ubisoft has already tried to experiment with them, but at the moment they are the only company that has done so.
