Change of moderators in “Hard but fair”: Frank Plasberg hands over the ARD talk to the son of actor Peter Lohmeyer.
Cologne – One of the best-known German political talk shows is reorganizing itself. After 22 years, Frank Plasberg (65) stops as moderator of the ARD talk “Hart aber fair”. His successor will be Louis Klamroth (32), son of actor Peter Lohmeyer. As the WDR announced on Wednesday afternoon, the change of moderator is planned for the end of November 2022.
“Hard but fair” (ARD): Plasberg is breaking up after 22 years
The 65-year-old Plasberg explained in a press release that it was about the “further development” of the show. “And now is the right time for that.” Plasberg welcomed the viewers to almost 750 programs. “How lucky I am to have been able to present ‘tough but fair’ for over 20 years. For this I owe a big thank you to the ARD and my home broadcaster WDR, a great team and of course the many guests, without whose willingness to argue hard but fairly the show would not have been possible.”
Plasberg wants to be there “as a spectator” in the future. According to WDR program director Jörg Schöneborn, Plasberg’s style of asking politics questions from the everyday perspective of citizens “contributed to the credibility of our program”. With Louis Klamroth, “hard but fair” is now entering a “new era”.
Louis Klamroth moderated the political talk show “Klamroths Konter” on n-tv, for which he won the German Television Prize (Förderpreis) in 2018. The 32-year-old became known to a wider public with the “ProSieben Bundestag Election Show”, for which he was in front of the camera in 2021. From now on, Monday evening is his slot. “I am very pleased to be able to help shape this program in this prominent slot as a moderator from next year and to be able to lead it into the future,” explained the Plasberg successor.
