Like many other movies, Inside Out 2 has a great deal of inspiration from other films, something that the director of photography of this feature film has confirmed. While many might think that this work takes into consideration other animated and comedy projects, in reality this is not the case, since Uncut Gems is positioned as one of the main inspirations for Inside Out 2.
In a recent interview, Adam Habib, the director of photography of Inside Out 2, confirmed that Uncut Gems was one of the main inspirations for Pixar when it came to depicting anxiety on screen. This is what he had to say about it:
“We thought about movies that were very good at depicting anxiety, and one of my favorites from the last few years is Uncut Gems. I don’t know if you know it, but they made a rule: when[the protagonist]is in the display part of the store, presenting and doing this kind of showman thing, they used a Steadicam.
But when they go to the back and guys show up trying to get money from him, they use handheld cameras. That’s where we got the inspiration to use handheld shots specifically when Ansiedad takes over.”
Uncut Gems is a film written and directed by Benny and Joshua Safdie, which shows us the life of a gambling addict, who lives with constant anxiety attacks. Although no one would think that Pixar took inspiration from a work of this type, It makes a lot of sense when we consider the way the animated studio handled the panic attack in Inside Out 2.
In related topics, Inside Out 2 has already been released on Disney+. Likewise, former Pixar employees reveal what it was like to work on this film.
Author’s Note:
Uncut Gems It’s a fantastic movie that everyone should see. It’s like watching a panic attack for the entire duration of the film. Along with this, the film gives us one of the best performances by Adam Sandler in recent years.
