Caixa Econômica Federal begins this Thursday, the 30th, the payment of Reconstruction Aid to displaced or homeless families in Rio Grande do Sul.
More than 34 thousand families from Rio Grande do Sul, the majority from the city of Canoas, will receive the benefit in this first batch of payments, in a single installment of R$5.1 thousand via Pix.
“As the updating and confirmation of registrations are being carried out in batches, the next credits will be carried out twice a week”, informed the bank.
The forecast is to serve approximately 240 thousand people. See questions and answers below:
Who can receive Reconstruction Aid?
Homeless or homeless families (who were forced to abandon their homes), residents in areas that were completely flooded or damaged by floods or landslides in municipalities that had an emergency or public calamity situation recognized by the federal government until May 15th.
To date, 369 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, which have had a state of public calamity or emergency recognized by the National Civil Defense, are covered by the benefit. See the list on the official website Reconstruction Aid.
How do I prove my data?
The data provided by the city hall will be cross-referenced with other government databases to validate the address. If the system identifies any inconsistencies, the city hall will be informed so that it can make the necessary corrections with the families.
Last week, the City halls started registering families. People identified by municipalities as “family responsible” will have to enter the aid system, with the Gov.br password, and check whether the family is included in the registry sent by the city hall.
To date, 44,592 families have been registered by city halls to have access to benefit. Click here to confirm the benefit.
How will payment be made?
The aid of R$5,100, in a single installment, will be paid via Pix and limited to one member per family.
Caixa Econômica Federal will receive the list of eligible names and will make the deposit into the account. Families don’t need to worry about opening bank accounts. Caixa will identify whether the person responsible already has an account, savings or current, and will automatically grant the credit. If the beneficiary does not have an account, the bank will be responsible for opening a Digital Social Savings Account to receive the Reconstruction Aid, which can be used via the Caixa Tem application.
Do I need to be accountable?
There is no accountability. Each family decides the best way to use the resource.
I am entitled, I meet the requirements, but my name is not included, what do I do?
Contact your city hall to send your family’s data to the federal government.
Do businesses that were flooded and suffered losses have the right?
No. Reconstruction Aid is intended for displaced or homeless families, residing in flooded areas or areas damaged by floods or landslides, as a result of climate events in RS.
Who is entitled to assistance? The tenant or the owner?
The assistance is for residents, regardless of whose house it is. If the tenant lives in a house that is in a flooded area or damaged by floods or landslides, the assistance is for them.
Do people who lived alone have the right?
Yes. A family is considered a unit made up of one or more individuals who contribute to the income or have their expenses met by the family unit and who live in the same household.
I am a beneficiary of the Bolsa Família Program. Can I receive Reconstruction Aid?
Yes. The benefit is aimed at families who had to leave their homes and seek shelter or go to the homes of friends and relatives due to the rain and lost part or all of their possessions.
I am receiving unemployment benefits. Can I receive Aid?
Yes. If you live in an affected area informed by the city hall, had to leave your home and lost property due to the rain, you may receive reconstruction assistance.
