Culiacán, Sinaloa.- After 26 days of being rescued from the street, sick with a tumorwith parasites in the blood and with severe malnutritionthis Monday El Pinto died, one of the four pets of Gustavo Cabrales García, 62 years old. that he suffered hunger, mistreatment and inclement weather and that he spent many days looking for food in a well-known Del Valle shopping mall in Culiacán, in the company of his owner and that at night they went to sleep in a house in the San Rafael neighborhood.
Marisela Castaños from the Balto Foundation and Togo Animal Welfare AC, explained that Pinto was very ill due to long-term suffering from canine transmissible venereal tumor (TVT), which grew on his head.
The case of Pinto, said the animal specialist, shows the importance of sterilizing animals, because this dog’s disease was transmitted by a genital mucosa and bleeding in the urine, which was transmitted to him during his hours of walking on the street, because Don Gustavo’s four dogs were constantly seen in the parking lot of this square.
In a very emotional message, Marisela Castaños shows her sadness at Pinto’s death, and on social networks she wrote: “We are sorry to report that Pinto lost the battle, it is very sad for us to lose a little animal, we did everything possible to save it. We thank the people who cared about him and helped us with some of his treatment.
“We want to express our concern about the increase in cases of TVT in the city, sterilization is very important to avoid contagion, veterinary attention on time, it does not matter if it is a street animal. If you see that he is sick, help him, not only side passes, our society needs to be more empathetic with animals, it really hurts us to have so many reports of animals on the streets, mistreated, suffering from hunger and inclement weather, but above all they suffer from human indifference”, he explains in his Farewell message for the brown mixed breed puppy.
He added: “Pinto, I hope you forgive us for being late in your life. We did everything in our power to save you, but the cancer was very advanced, you had a few weeks without suffering or pain. You knew that there were good people who really wanted to help you. We gave you love and food; we thank the doctors for having faith with us and putting their best effort into trying. We will continue to fight for the street animals to have fair laws and a decent home!”
