On Sunday, French bakers regained the world record for the longest loaf of French bread by preparing a loaf measuring 140.53 meters long.
Bakers from Italy grabbed the record five years ago.
The Surin area in the French capital, Paris, witnessed the preparation of a loaf that is approximately 235 times longer than the traditional loaf (French baguette), during an event by the French Federation of Bakers and Pastry Chefs.
The longest loaf of French bread was previously registered in Italy and was prepared in the city of Como in June 2019, and its length reached 132.62 meters at the time.
French bakers began preparing and shaping the loaf at three in the morning before placing it in an oven specially designed for this purpose.
One of the bakers, Anthony Arrigault, said after the Guinness World Records jury approved the loaf, “We have verified everything. We are all very happy to break this record and achieve it in France.”
Part of the baguette was cut and distributed to the public, and the remaining part will be given to the homeless.
